Philanthropy and Youth (PaY) empowers high school students to become community leaders by developing their philanthropic spirit. Through leadership development and proactive engagement, students learn the importance of service and grantmaking. Contributions from Giving Hearts Day directly supported students involved in the PaY Summer Internship program. Launched in 2009, this program places PaY students in full-time, paid internships with local nonprofits for nine weeks each summer. The program is designed to build on the nonprofit experience students receive in PaY. Each recipient organization is carefully matched with a PaY student who is hired to work on a special project designed by the organization.
